Getting real world, age appropriate technology into the hands of our littlest learners is paramount to their success as they move forward in their educational careers. BeeBots will give the students the opportunity to learn about how technology can be used in different ways, while the headphones will help them utilize the already existing classroom technology more effectively.
My students will use the BeeBots during center time to help them learn cause and effect, to learn direction words such as left, right, forward, and backwards, and to learn to get along with their peers in a meaningful activity. They will also learn basic coding and programming skills from this activity, as well as practice STEM activities such as sending the BeeBots on missions and racing them through mazes. The children will be able to work with the BeeBots with me during small group time to learn the skills to use them appropriately, and then they will be allowed to use them independently during all center times in our day.
The headphones will also help the students learn from computer based games and programs, while fitting them better than the headphones provided by the school which are made to fit ten and eleven year-olds. Using well fitting headphones will help the students stay focused on their activities, instead of focusing on how their headphones are falling off.
