With the resources provided in this project, my students will be able to use hands-on materials to build a strong mathematics foundation. You will help provide my students with number strings, 10 frame cards, demonstration rekenreks, and materials to integrate MathTalks within our classroom.
These amazing materials will help bring mathematics to life in our classroom, where the students will be engaged and interacting with their learning. Students greatly benefit from learning with hands-on materials. Being able to see it, touch it, and manipulate it allows the students to make more connections with different strategies and allows them to really make their learning concrete. Having the number strings will allow students see the relationship between numbers. The 10 frame cards and rekenreks will allow students to actually hold and manipulate number patterns. Incorporating MathTalks into our classroom will enable the students to become fluent with the strategies they have been learning and make the connections with different number relationships.
Through these resources, my students will be able to create and represent different strategies of mathematics. With these different representations and materials the students will be able to make connections between concepts and really determine the relationship to mathematics.
