The Social Studies Content Interventionist for our school has been collecting and creating 360 photos and videos that align and support our 5th grade social studies standards for United States History from 1865 to the present. My students will be able to explore the routes and museums of the Oregon Trail, walk through museums honoring our famous inventors, experience WWI and WWII museums, explore the works projects completed by the CCC during the New Deal, and walk in the shoes of famous activists during the Civil Rights Movement. All of these experiences will allow my students to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich history of America.
My students need Virtual Reality Headsets to allow them to more clearly see and understand the subject matter. The goal is to be able to travel to and explore places all over the world without leaving the classroom. Virtual reality makes travel possible without the constraints of time, fees, and permission slips. Without stepping foot on a bus, my students will be able to visit different regions of the United States, museums, national parks, historic battlefields, and monuments with virtual class tours.
