I teach a wonderful group of third graders in New York City. They are all Hispanic. My students attend a school in a very poor neighborhood. They are very motivated and eager to learn. Some of them get ready for school on their own as their parents work long hours.
My students love school. They enjoy reading and writing. As part of the curriculum, we study communities from around the world. They learn to write essays. They also write many informational books. My students love to work in collaboration, not only with their peers but also with other classes. My third graders are very proud of their families. We make sure to include their families in classroom activities, school celebrations, and field trips. The children in my class are friendly, respectful, and very responsible.
