Students who have active learning stools in the classroom are free to make a choice of which seating arrangement is best for their learning. By giving them a choice, I am helping them begin to learn how to make appropriate choices to make them more successful in the classroom. This also helps reduce the amount of behavior problems that can happen in the classroom. The stools will allow students to have their own space to spread out and have room to work, as well as increased engagement in their learning. By having higher engagement, students will be more successful.

In the past, I have spent my own money on furniture in my room that allows for students to have options in class. I have found that students are more apt to get to work, stay focused and on task, and retain information when they simply get to choose a nice place to sit and feel comfortable, safe, and successful.
