I will use this classroom rug several times during the day with my students. We will use it to gather for Soft Landing morning meetings and read alouds. This classroom rug will provide a comfortable place for them to sit while we have whole class discussions, when I'm giving them directions for center rotations, or when they are reading independently.
I want to provide a welcoming learning space for my students.
When they are on the rug together it will give them a sense of community. I hope it will reinforce the idea of a classroom family.
Having the students on the rug during instruction or read alouds will also cut down on distractions. Students will be focused on our discussion instead of playing with things in or on their desks.
