In this digital teaching/learning format, my students are at home. Being at home, some or most do not have access to non-fiction books or articles. This is a genre that the students need exposure to as often as possible. A great way to provide that would be through Scholastic News. Scholastic News is a great way to start meaningful conversations with my 4th graders.
We can use these articles to work in small groups (breakout rooms) and answer deeper questions, we will use them for discussions, and of course the students reading them on their free time away from school. All of the ways that Scholastic News will be used in our classroom will be a resource that my students may not have access to otherwise.
