As a science teacher, I have encouraged students to be advocates for justice. In forensic science, I taught my students about mass incarceration and the disparities in criminal sentencing. In environmental science, my students learned how pollution disproportionately affects the health and safety of people of color. Many of these lessons and activities have been supplemented by the Teachers Pay Teachers resource website.
Teachers Pay Teachers has a wealth of lessons that promote and support environmental and social justice in the science classroom. The donation will aide in purchasing these materials for students. The resources are well researched and aesthetically appealing to students. In addition, the resources are easily adaptable for both student's academic needs and distance learning. Students will be provided with historical and scientific content and learn to apply the information to make changes in their community.
