I started the Aikido Club at Highland Oaks Middle (HOM) to give students the opportunity to apply the concepts, strategies, and techniques in their lives. Character education, helping others and maintaining a healthy live style are at the core of the HOM Aikido Club.
My students need training mats because the old ones were severely damaged by Hurricane Irma. Donations for this project will not only help my students develop into well-rounded individuals but will also help them become positive models in our school and the community. Since the inception of the club, many students have moved on to high school and have continued training in the martial arts. A few of them still come back to visit the HOM Aikido Club and are thankful for the experience.
