My project is an innovative way for EC students to work on their communication skills. Speech therapy students learn through a variety of teaching strategies including the use of technology. They thrive on an interactive approach and as their speech language pathologist, it is my job and desire to provide opportunities that meet their needs, despite the lack of resources we often have made available to us. This iPad can be used for all my students whether they are using it as an augmentative communication device, working on articulation skills, increasing expressive and receptive language, increasing vocabulary, or targeting stuttering behaviors.
With the iPad, students will be able to use a variety of apps focusing on speech and communication. Students will be able to use articulation apps like Articulation Station and Artic Pix to help practice the sounds they have in error. They will be able to use Turtle Talk to help students who stutter. These are just a few examples from a wealth of resources that will be implemented. These apps give immediate feedback for students in a fun, motivational way.
What better way to get students excited about learning to be effective communicators!!
