Greetings! I am a teacher at SOAR Academy East Mesa Juvenile Detention Center. I have taught Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, special education, CTE - ASL, and Adult Basic Skills. I am now teaching at "Ground Zero." When I was interviewed, I was asked why I wanted to teach at East Mesa. My response was, "Any teacher would want to teach here because this is where the teaching really matters." While I still have lots to learn, I know that what I do makes a difference for 20-24 young men who have made huge mistakes and are working towards graduation, learning skills, and ways they can impact society and repay the debt they now owe.
