School, the home that is better than home. I teach at a school with a high level of poverty. Most of our students would rather be at school than home, because school is safe. I teach mostly special needs students. My students struggle to get even simple concepts. I have to make things real to them. My students are curious about the world they are discovering that exists outside of their town. My students are traditionally the ones everyone else in the school forgets about. My class is often looked over and my students and I are working hard to change that.
