According to United Cerebral Palsy, assistive technology often plays a vital role in the lives of people with disabilities. Assistive technology is any item, piece of equipment, or product that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.
My classroom is in desperate need of technology which will allow students basic communication, to identify their basic wants and needs; Big Mac switches will foster interaction between them, their teachers, as well as their peers. By giving to this project, you are giving a voice to those individuals who were not blessed with the same skills and abilities as 98% of the other children in the US. These devices will be used throughout the day as an opportunity for students to communicate in a way that is becoming more and more the norm in our society. Switches can be set to count objects, answer questions, and more.
My classroom is also in need of basic cleaning products which will aid in keeping a clean and germ free room. By donating to this project we will be able to provide the necessary items to ensure our students are happy and healthy when they enter our room!
