My students often get to school in a state of distress or can easily get into distress at any moment during the school day. A therapeutic strategy to help a child calm their nervous system is using deep pressure (e. g. hugs and body squeezes) or "heavy work" (e. g. Weights, lift/push/pull) activities. But some students don't like another person touching them. This piece of therapeutic equipment will give all of my students an opportunity to independently get a good squeeze over their whole body to calm and help regulate their nervous system. When they have a calm, organized sytem they are much more ready and able to learn. This hug machine is a safe, accessible tool for any student to give their body a hug when in distress or to prevent distress.
