I recently made the switch from teaching visual art to teaching middle and high school Makerspace. What is Makerspace you ask? Makerspace utilizes design thinking as a model to approach science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics in a project based classroom. Students engaged in Makerspace become critical thinkers who have the creative confidence necessary to raise questions and take risks based on strong knowledge of both content and process. In the Makerspace classroom we explore, discover, innovate and experience STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) as a tool for finding and solving problems.
