Our pencil sharpener in class has been broken since September and have been hand sharpening each pencil which takes too much time. This will allow us to have sharp pencils to complete our work.
The games (banana grams, waffle builders, snowflake slots), play-dough, and building tools are used in the morning instead of paper morning work. They will be used in morning stations. I find many students coming in sleepy and tired. Morning bins allow students a fun, creative way to get the brain working early in the morning.
The crates will be used to replace our current crate seats which have been broken due to them being too cheap and poor quality. We use these at the teacher table during small group for seats. We also use them to store school supplies.
The pencil grips will be given to each child to keep at school to improve pencil grip and improve their handwriting. I have spoken with the school OT and she said they are very beneficial to children at this age to maintain proper pencil grip.
The classroom timer will be used throughout the whole day in the class. We will use the timer for transitions, stations, and to stay on schedule through our assignments. The giant magnetic handwriting paper will be used during writing time to model to students on how to set up our writing. The hot glue gun will be used to complete various projects we do throughout the year and our grade-level project we do each 9-weeks!
