With a gradient nonfiction text set, I can provide my students with a variety of books in our classroom library. Currently the nonfiction texts in the classroom library are out of date and in rough shape. Throughout the year students will explore several topics in science and social studies. By having these texts available, students can easily research what interests them. When a student's interests spikes for a certain topic, I love to encourage them to read on that topic to further their understanding. I can also use several texts to supplement our science and social studies curriculum. Also, these texts will be used as mentor texts in our writing center and writer's workshop.
