Students will be able to put their technology up for the day and will get to use these hands-on materials to learn about the arrangement of physical features in different areas. Topographical maps encourage students to look at maps in a new perspective. Students will be able to identify the various landforms and how the geography of the land impacts the people who live in those spaces.
Topographic maps motivate learners who aspire to be avid hikers, campers, and snow skiers. Topographic maps also inspire students to become city and county planners, work for the Fish and Wildlife Service, Forest Service, become miners, loggers, highway planners, construction works, geologists, engineers, and many other career fields. Learning about maps helps out students see their purpose goes beyond the classroom, and can positively impact their futures in hobbies or careers.
