All of my kindergartners are incredibly intelligent and have a lot of motivation to learn. We focus a lot on reading, writing, and letter identification in kindergarten, and that can be daunting! They face every challenge with a positive mindset and a willingness to learn. Not only are my students smart, but they are also endlessly creative. They are constantly asking if they can draw, color, cut, paste, create! They love crafts and really take ownership of their creations. The best part is, creating is learning and learning is creating!
These art materials will help me combine their love for learning seamlessly with their affinity for creating.
My students are what I like to call "all-in learners," they aren't afraid to jump into a project or activity no matter how messy things might get and use all of their senses while learning and creating; sight, touch, smell, sound, and sometimes, taste! It would be more than beneficial for all my levels of learners, but especially my most beginner readers, to incorporate different types of materials into our word work, reading, and writing time.
With each of the requested materials, students will be given a different sensory experience through feeling, seeing, and doing, while also having the opportunity to be creative in how they form letters, words, and sentences. We will use the materials in a wide variety of ways to grow our letter ID skills, our memory word retention, sounding out and spelling words, and our sentence writing skills.
