I would like to overhaul my classroom seating and available books in order to make my room a more relevant, nurturing space. Right now the lighting in the room is harsh, and the seats are uncomfortable and crowded. I would like to add some alternate forms of lighting to make the room warm and fun, and add some new seating options instead of regular plastic chairs. I would also like to get some newer books for them to read! Studies show that students are more likely to be invested and dive in to books that somehow interest and relate to them.
By donating to this project, you can directly help my students improve their literacy skills, appreciate reading books, and help them pay attention and actually enjoy being in class!
Numerous studies show that flexible, soft seating allows students to focus more on the educational topics at hand, and helps them want to be in class. This type of self-responsibility helps students take charge of their academics, and makes my class a safe space for them to really enjoy. Students are more engaged, focus better, and dive right in to material when they are allowed choices on seating.
