I teach two 5th grade classes of language arts and social studies. My students will use these books in our classroom library to read during school hours, as well as checking them out to take home and practice their reading.
I truly feel that every student can be a lover of books, but some have yet to find that one that sparks their interest.
This collection contains book series that are award-winning titles and high-interest books that will reach all students, both fiction and non-fiction. I believe that fiction is a great way to hook some of our non-readers. These experiences allow them to get lost with a character in the book, all while learning about themselves in the long run. Non-fiction books help develop background knowledge and learn about the world around them.
