Our program serves students with the highest levels of behavioral and emotional needs (EBD) in a large, diverse, urban district. Students attend this program because their behaviors present a danger to themselves or to others, and these behaviors have had a profoundly negative impact on their academic performance. We are a small, self-contained site with a very high teacher-student ratio. Our families primarily live in the surrounding urban, low-income community and struggle with issues such as generational poverty, homelessness, addiction, instability and neighborhood violence. Our student population is 90% non-white, approximately 10% of our students are homeless/highly mobile and 99% of our families receive free and reduced price lunch.
