At an urban high school in upstate New York, my Spanish language classroom is comprised of students at levels 1, 2, 3 & 4. We play games, tell stories, speak with each other, and read and write together in Spanish. My students at all levels read at least one TPRS (Teaching Proficiency Through Reading & Storytelling) novel a year. Spanish 4 students take the College Level Examination Program Exam to earn university credits. At an urban career & technology HS, where only one foreign language credit is required for graduation, my students and I joyously fight to keep our foreign language program alive and kicking!
