I am hoping to obtain these items which will service over 600 students in the small town where I teach. Currently the music budget is zero dollars and the only materials I have are those which I inherited when I started teaching this year. Many of my current items are outdated or broken.
My teaching has the greatest impact when my students are moving and doing hands-on activities. Most of my students are kinesthetic learners and my classroom needs the materials to support this. My students would benefit from the mini white-boards and markers so they can write out their own rhythms and compositions to share with me. My classroom has a few beautiful xylophones which lack the appropriate mallets for performance. The beanbags and polyspots are manipulatives to be used for movement and rhythm activities which typically engage my students the most. Lastly, the Together in Harmony book is a resource for me and future music teachers to use to plan new and interesting activities for the students.
There are many other items my students and classroom need to be successful, but this would be a great start into what I believe can be an engaging and fun environment to teach and learn music. Thank you for stopping by this page and thank you for supporting my classroom, my students and future students to come!
