My students are an amazingly diverse group of young adults. These students are identified as special education and English language learners. They are often judged and labeled as "Someone who can't succeed" in the regular education classrooms. THEY CAN SUCCEED! Each one of these students brings different experiences and knowledge with them that others can learn from.
The special education students in my school come from families that are mostly below the poverty level and receive free/reduced lunch. All of my students have special education needs and many are English Language Learners (some have been in this country for a month or two) and also have special learning requirements. Many of my students struggle with difficult home lives where there is no support emotionally or academically, making it difficult to complete work at home or stay focused during the school day.
