The students in my classroom come from a very diverse community. Many of the students are learning English as a second language or need intervention or special education classes. My students are also often expected to help translate for parents and tutor younger siblings.
Although some of my students struggle academically, they all desire to learn and do well in school. They enjoy collaborating as a team and supporting and learning from each other. Some of their favorite class activities include hands-on projects, using technology as a tool, science experiments, creating and building, art and working with their second grade little buddies. They also love to read and share their joy of reading with each other.
We call our classroom a "family of learners" in which the teacher and students are excited to come to class and learn together everyday!
