Early childhood education sets the tone for a child's future. Often people hear preschool teacher and think I play with bubbles all day. Some parents think the only thing their child should be doing is learning ABC's. But my children are so much more than that. I teach a classroom of sixteen three to five year old children who come from a low-income, urban setting. Everyday my students enter the classroom excited to explore! And no matter what is happening outside in the world, whether it be in their city, their neighborhood, or in their home, in my classroom we love & we learn. We explore how we are the same & different & why we are all important. We celebrate each others strengths & working as a team. We share our feelings & how that affects us. We discuss everyone's family structures & the differences. We do all of this through play. And yes, we do blow bubbles and learn letters too! My students know strength!
