My students are routine oriented, fun, motivated, and smart 6 and 7 year olds. The power of choice in my classroom has been one way that I have empowered them to feel ownership of their actions. They have used this as a positive way to feel complete responsibility to manage their time and complete assignments. They know what is expected of them and they produce not only to adhere to expectations, but to feel a sense of satisfaction in themselves. I do my best to provide them with instruction that can engage them.
Our school building has this vibe all over. Teachers, staff, and administration are constantly working toward gathering resources and materials to give each and every child exactly what they need.
