A kidney-shaped table would be very beneficial for the students in my classroom. I teach Pre-K at an elementary school, and many of the students in my classroom are just starting out to learn the basics of ELA & Math.
This time is critical in development and we are setting students up with the necessities for their education. Because of the importance of the introduction to these subjects, much of the day in my classroom is spent on small group instruction. However, without the proper materials, small group instruction can be difficult. It is hard to meet with a group of 3 students gathered sitting on the floor. It is also hard for students to stay on task in this sort of situation, which makes building these core concepts very difficult.
A kidney-shaped table and chairs would help with this dilemma. The benefit of this type of table is that the teacher is within an arm's reach of each student. Children are more focused when they are in close proximity to the teacher, and when children are focused, they are able to make greater strides in gaining the core skills in which they are being exposed to.
Your help will ensure that my students are given every available advantage in gaining these necessary beginners skills.
