I am looking to get a 3D printer for my classroom. I was lucky enough to borrow one for a semester. I had my doubts about how I could incorporate a 3D printer into my curriculum. However, after testing it out, I realized the exponential value that it would bring to my classroom. For my first project, I had my students first create and label a three-dimensional drawing of an animal cell in Tinkercad. They then got to print a 3D model of their cell.
I have never seen my student more excited than I did that day! My students had created a tangible object that they had designed and created themselves! Not only is this just extremely cool for a sixth-grader to be able to do but it is also preparing them for their future.
