My students are very hard working and dedicated students who, for most, have faced a learning or emotional disability most of their lives. My students are anxiously looking forward to graduation but many do not know what exists beyond high school. My students will not all go to college, not all will graduate will a high school diplomas but all of them will have a chance to attend some type of post secondary option.
Living a high poverty area most of my students come to school to get the only two meals that they will receive for the day. Many of my students come from foster homes and at graduation are afraid that they will be losing the support of their foster families and so they are working hard to get into a program after high school.
