Teaching middle school is a wild ride! At a time when students are just diving into creating their own personalities, are self-conscious, and have the gigantic hearts of five-year olds still, every day is an adventure.
My students are caring, compassionate people. We get to explore the world of literature and understand history together. We have rich, meaningful conversations one second, and the next someone is making a joke about farts.
I show up to work with passion and a huge desire to do my job well, and I'll let you in on a secret - it is not because I'm some amazing teacher - it is because I have some truly amazing students who make me want to give them the world.
We live in a rural town, approximately 150 miles from San Francisco. Many of my students face hardships of many kinds, but you'd never know it from the laughter in our halls and the kindness and compassion that are demonstrated everyday.
