Mac computers have become a cornerstone of the theatre industry. There are many programs used to run and design shows that are specific to Mac. They are an essential tool in the theatre industry. This means it's an essential tool for our classroom. However, because of their expense, it is not something we have been able to purchase on our own. Currently, I use my own computer to teach the kids about sound design and to run our shows, but if we could get our own computer for departmental use, it would mean the students could work independently with a dedicated computer, and our competition designers could even check it out to prepare for our competitions.
