We are a lottery school, so our students come from all over the city. Some enter kindergarten with a strong foundation having been exposed to all forms of literacy. Others come in with very little exposure to books, letters, letter sounds or a sense of story. As a literature-based school, we teach various thematic units through the integration of great picture books, chapter books, children's magazines and other forms of literacy. Our approach to teaching all subjects is to start with each child's strength, to encourage peer teaching and self-evaluation, monitoring and goal setting. Students leave our school with a love of learning. Literacy is crucial to this end!
