My third graders are very active. Transitioning from a traditional classroom to a classroom with flexible seating, will allow my students to choose a work area that focuses on their learning style. Research has shown that classrooms with flexible seating options have seen an increase in student engagement and test scores.
Wobble chairs will be a perfect addition to my classroom in my desire to provide flexible seating options for all of my students. They will allow students to fidget and move in a non-disruptive manner as they complete assignments. Children will also become less frustrated by the expectation of sitting still for several hours each day. A new study suggests that students who move their bodies during math and spelling learn more effectively than students in typical sedentary classrooms. In addition to helping with student engagement and focus, wobble chairs have also been known to improve student posture and balance. Wobble chairs will help me honor the needs or my wigglers while getting my job done. Please help me create this alternative and healthy seating option in my classroom!
