My students are learning math that they will use in everyday life. Things like Fractions, Multiplication, Area, and Perimeter. My students choose their own math manipulatives when solving problems. They enjoy open ended tasks where they work together to solve real life tasks. Activities and technology are added to our daily stations. They like to get together and choose what they will be solving today. I love to see this in action especially with 4th grade.
I also pull small groups where we focus on the students needs and discuss using different math strategies and skills. Students fill their tool belt with as many strategies as possible.
