I am a Fifth grade General Education teacher in a NYC public school. I teach all subject areas. I tell my student's parents every year that I teach life, mixed into the curriculum. I feel it's important to teach the WHOLE child not just the curriculum. It's important for our students to enjoy school and learning and to see that the world is actually connected to what we learn in school. When I teach social studies, it's not just social studies but also math and literature, when I teach science it's also math, writing, and literature.
Our school is Pre-K to 5. Our school population has many English Language Learners and Special Needs Students.
