My students are grades 10-12 and are very creative. Our school doesn't have much money to help support the arts and help us achieve state and national goals we set each year. This year we had a student get appointed as a state officer for theatre, and we want to help her shine in our program on our stage. This is a feat very few in the state get to achieve. My students come from broken homes with little to no income and every student in our school receives free and reduced breakfast and lunch. Money coming from outside the school is next to none, so we are in need of community support. My students thrive with positive attention since most are African-American and keep hearing about negative images in the media, and they want to be the reason there is a turn around.
