Almost half of my student population is on free and reduced lunch. That means they are either at or close to the poverty level. Many of them do not get the opportunity to do activities outside the normal school hours. 60% are Hispanic, and half of them are English Language Learners. Hands on learning works with all students, but it is especially helpful for ELL's because the experience solidifies the lesson.
