My students come to school with a huge educational gap. Oftentimes, I teach children who are 2+ years behind their peers which makes it very difficult for them to learn because they do not possess the skills necessary to perform on state standardized tests. Throw in the new expectations that are coming with Common Core and the deficit that these children already face will only grow deeper. Many of my students have little to no experience with technology besides what they use at school. I am asking for an iPad for my classroom because I want my students to be able to interact with our curriculum in a way that is engaging to them. An iPad will allow us to analyze historical documents, view historical videos and reenactments, and make our own videos for projects and presentations.
