Our district has bought into the Stemscopes Science program developed by Rice University. An absolutely wonderful tool that, when used to its fullest, allows students to delve deeper into science than ever before. The program is very expensive, subsequently, our district could not purchase the supply kits that Stemscopes offers in order to make planning, and implementing the science projects easier and more complete.
Our grade level is lacking tools to teach simple machines. Your donation will go toward greatly improving our ability to share with students the impact that simple machines have on their daily lives. I have selected 4 items that will be shared among 99 students. They include three Simple Machine sets. These sets are comprised of gears, screw systems, levers, Wedges, all of which can be connected in order to create an actual working system, displaying for the students the ability for these systems to work together. Next, for our more advanced learners, I have listed a robotics system that takes learning simple machines to an all new level. It will greatly challenge their thinking and broaden their understanding of simple machines as they are utilized in higher order science such as robotics and automation.
All of these tools will be used to enhance and bring relevance to the science experience for all of the 3rd graders here at Austin Elementary. If you are able to help us we would greatly appreciate it.
