My school is a Chicago Public School located on the far south-east side of Chicago. The school is made up of K- 8th grade. My school is unique in CPS, the administration, parents, and community of the school are very involved in the student's lives. My string students are a fun, intelligent, and dedicated group. I can only describe the ensembles as a family. The older students are always offering to help the beginning students and offering to run sectionals. The majority of my students come in before and after school on their own time to practice. Though we do not have much room for them to practice you can walk around the school and find them practicing in the hallways. The students know and show appreciation that a Music program is very rare in an elementary setting in CPS. They take full advantage of the opportunity given to them. They inspire me everyday to be the best I can be everyday.
