All twenty-four cubes of density will be used at some capacity during every unit I teach! During the physics portion, the density cubes will truly give my students an exciting, hands-on experience. Students will work together to find the mass of the cubes, submerge them in water to determine the volume, and then calculate density by dividing volume from the mass (d=m/v).
The cubes of density will make an ordinary concept extraordinary! Furthermore, my students will continue the use of the cubes during the chemistry unit. Each student will carefully analysis the physical properties of the cubes making observations about the color, luster, texture, and density of the cubes to predict what elements from the periodic table of elements were used in the making of all twenty-four cubes! The cubes will provide my students with a hands-on experience, and integrate math into my science curriculum.
