This project will give students at WCMS a chance to build their own video game console. In the process they will use the Raspberry Pie Motherboard to build a computer. The students will learn computer programming as they load an operating system and commands onto the SD card. Retro consoles are the hot gift of the last two Christmas seasons. With their new USB controllers and power supply chargers, they can take their custom game system home and play games on their own computer gaming system. This project is highly individual and customizable, depending on the students' interests.
Best of all they will get to keep the video game machine they make. What better way to motivate today's learner? This is a high interest activity, designed to capture the imaginations of young minds, and make the technical task of computer coding accessible to any kid.
