E Komo Mai! Welcome! Thanks for visiting our classroom. On a tiny Pacific Island our middle school was built in the year 2000. Sugar cane had been the driving force of the economy, until about 11 years ago. Today, our students enjoy surfing, canoe racing, fishing, diving, and hiking on our beautiful island. Among them are dancers, actors, athletes and musicians. While some of the sixth grade students are the children of doctors, dentists and missile defense engineers, many come from hardworking families in health, hospitality, service and construction industries. Ethnically diverse families carry on the language traditions of their forbearers from The Hawaiian Islands, The Philippine Islands, Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, Portugal, Micronesia, Samoa, Viet Nam, Tahiti and Tonga. Fluency in language arts instruction would be enhanced with technology like interactive smart boards! Mahalo nui loa!
