Students in this age group are very visual learners. As we explore history in 7th grade we work to find ways for students to have an experience with the material versus just learning in a traditional manner.
Using the 9/11 videos to help students have a real time experience of the event will expand their knowledge base. It also allows us to be able to connect events of the not so distant past to help students gain a better understanding of our world today.
Help make History Come Alive for my students through giving us access to these titles. Using these titles as a culminating event for each unit allows me to connect to the 21st Century skill of interpreting films based on actual events. This allows students to connect what they have learned about to either an actual documentary of the event or a fictional depiction of it. We can then build our writing and presentation skills to expand knowledge of our timeline.
