My students will be creating and maintaining a history themed website next year. The website will have four different sections that the students will be curating. They will be doing research on different historical topics and will be creating blogs, vlogs, and short documentaries based on their research.
Learning needs to be meaningful and support a purpose that is relevant and real to the student. Our students live in a digital world and completing worksheets, or taking notes while a teacher lectures, does not reflect life outside of school. It's just not like the real world. The cameras requested will be used to create short documentaries and vlogs as well as take photos for use in their blogs. It is important that the students have these cameras so that they have images that they can use on their site without having to purchase stock photos or video and not violate copyright laws. These cameras will help my students create high quality, real world, work that they will make public to a large audience (the entire world wide web). Learning doesn't get anymore relevant and real than that!
