Our school is one of the oldest high schools in the country with a long, proud tradition behind it. At the same time, economic segregation and cuts in district funding have left our student body divided - both from our middle-class peers and access to quality books, materials, and courses critical to attending college.
We are hardworking and dedicated thinkers creating academic paths that upend racial and economic stereotypes. Each day we critically access where we are and what we need to do to better ourselves and our community.
Statistically, our school is comprised of 93 percent African American and Hispanic students. All students are eligible for free lunches. We are labeled Title I.
