I work in a Title I school in Bushwick. My students are respectful learners that enjoy and appreciate lessons structured with creativity. Many of my students are on either basketball, soccer, volleyball, or baseball teams. I welcome my students to be themselves and try to have fun in the classroom; I actively encourage dramatic readings and often allow students to engage in activities that permit them to choose their own grouping and move around the room. The majority of my students are, however, reluctant readers outside of the classroom. It is difficult to motivate my students to read when they're not in my class - the vast majority of them think that there's "nothing fun" to read. I hope that, through this donorschoose page, I can change that perspective.
