Flexible seating allows students to support their own learning by independently choosing their most comfortable environment. Currently, my students have the option of sitting on the rug, in bean bag chairs, regular classroom metal chairs, and cushioned chairs. The immediate benefit of wobble chairs will allow students to be able to rotate, rock, and wobble in their seat without disturbing other students or class. To attempt to rotate, rock, or wobble in our current seats could lead to falls, trips, and potential injury. My class is increasingly more engaged, focused, and minimally disruptive when they have the ability to move in their seats. These chairs & cushions can have a lasting impact on my student's attention and precision during instructional periods. I have seen firsthand, during my student teaching, the impact that these wobble chairs & cushions have on fifth graders. The fifth graders are not only excited to see the new and exciting item in our classroom; they use the chair/cushion as a tool to effectively combat distractions and stay focused on the tasks at hand. With your help, my current fifth graders can experience the impact that these tools can have on their daily classroom life.
